Patient Name: Arya
Arya
“It has been great to see Arya’s response to therapy. She is the poster child for what is possible when we start treating joint disease early. We are so happy to see her be able to run, play fetch, and be active with her dad!”
“Arya is the sweetest girl! I always loved the times I got to work with her. She is why I do this job. Seeing patients thrive brings my heart joy!”
Brief History of Pet
I adopted Arya from a family that lived down the street while living in Northern Indiana. They had an accidental litter, and we had a very energetic two-year-old Australian Shepherd named Roman, that could use a friend, so we went to meet the puppies. We chose Arya because she kept trying to climb the wall to get out of the playpen the puppies were in and we thought given what we could see of her personality, she would be a perfect fit (See included videos of Arya and Roman). Seven years and lots of moving around later and I couldn’t imagine life without her.
Why VSMR?
Arya being a German Shepherd, is full of energy. I have always done my best to give her an outlet to work out that energy, primarily running in a field near my house and/or swimming in the pool. I noticed one summer she seemed to be limping occasionally at night and decided it would be best to get a vet’s opinion. After taking her to Colonial Manor, I learned that she likely had arthritis and should be seen at a VSMR which is when we found the VSMR in Homer Glen.
Favorite Motivator
Arya loves her liver treats and lots of love!
How VSMR has helped
VSMRHG and their fantastic team helped Arya return to the active lifestyle she loves after dealing with limping and discomfort. Seeing
Arya today, you would never know how much she had been struggling before rehabilitation. Being able to watch her run, swim, play fetch, and enjoy being herself again means an enormous amount to me. Arya and I can’t thank the
VSMRHG team enough!
Additional Information
When we moved to Homer Glen, she had only been swimming twice in her life, (image included of her first day swimming in Lake Michigan) and since we now had a pool, I wanted her to be comfortable with the water. Fast forward a few years and Arya has two major obsessions… Swimming and fetch (videos and photos included). Outside of that, Arya likes to spend her day lying by the window in my office, taking walks in the park, and playing with her cousin Charlie.
