Client Name: Tina
Patient Name: Dutchess
“It has been such a pleasure working with Dutchess. She is a character, so enjoying her peanut butter ball during treatments, but not until mom convinces her it is not poisoned! Dutchess is a wonderful companion and is so lucky to experience so much love and dedication from her family in return.”
Brief History of Pet
Dutchess came to me 13 years ago, when she was 11 months old on Valentine’s Day. In truth, I didn’t even want another dog, especially a female. But my boyfriend insisted we at least go see her, Dutchess was my present from him. It was love at first sight. I immediately went out and got her all the necessities and took her straight home to meet her big brother Boss. Dutchess had 3 previous owners before she got to me. In her short life, she didn’t know love, she didn’t know where her next meal was, she didn’t even know what a blanket was.
Why VSMR?
A few years ago Dutchess had an injury to her spine. At the time it was recommended that surgery was not a good option for her. We managed her pain and tried to heal her as best we could. Recently age has been sneaking up on her, rendering her back legs very weak. She lost a lot of mobility. I was recommended to VSMR by our primary vet. We had her in intensive therapy for a while, hydro, laser, and acupuncture.
How VSMR has helped
Although she did make improvement, it was determined that the best point of treatment would be to manage her pain. She’s been set up with her own wheels and special harness to help her get around better. It’s not easy to find people that put in as much effort and care into your dog as you do, but that is what VSMR does. They treat every patient as if they were their own animals. Everyone loves Dutchess and cares so much for her. That alone is worth everything. I’m grateful to the entire staff at VSMR, especially Kat and Dr. Brittany.
Favorite Motivator
Frozen Peanut Butter
“I truly enjoy sessions with Dutchess; she is always happy as long as there are treats. She has such a gentle and loving spirit who sits quietly and stoic but will take all the pets you have.”
Additional Information
Dutchess loves car rides; she’s a sucker for a tasty treat and a good tennis ball. She also loves sleeping in and borrowing under blankets. Another one of her favorite things to do was go to “work” where she would lay in her bed and let every visitor rub her belly and give her a treat. In between visitors, she’d catch up on her beauty rest and snore louder than a grown man!
