Patient Name: Tank
Brief History of Pet
Tank was rescued from an animal welfare shelter. He had been returned already from adoption for resource guarding. His future was not good he was six years old and in a known kill shelter. I had to take him home. He saw several drs for illnesses and is behavioral issues.
Why VSMR?
At 14 years of age he presented with problems walking. And tenderness in his neck. We did all the conservative treatment suggested. He then progressed to complete paralysis and horrible neck spasms! On recommendation from our RDVM, Dr Jeff Sankey from Palos Animal Hospital, we rushed him to Purdue ER! There he had an MRI and full exam. Diagnosed with IVDD, he needed surgery. At 14 we were concerned but had to give him the chance. He came through surgery and was in ICU for 6 days. At 14 we were concerned but had to give him the chance. He came through surgery and was in ICU for 6 days. No guarantee he would walk but was out of pain. At home there were six weeks of intense round the clock nursing with quite a bit of meds. At about six weeks he began to try to stand and take steps! That was the beginning of the road back. Purdue wanted him in therapy and told us VSMR was wonderful and close by me. We started our therapy with Dr Amber and Dr Brittany and the wonderful technicians they have.
How VSMR has helped:
He is now past 15 and walking with the help of all the treatments he’s been given without it he wouldn’t be as comfortable. He will be celebrating another holiday season with us because of the good care and all these wonderful professionals around us. We thank you all for giving him quality of life back.
